Carpet Cleaning
My carpet cleaning procedure is very thorough. I clean carpets using the Hot Water Extraction and Dry Compound methods.
Before starting with either system you will already have received a written quotation for the work that is to be carried out. Any possible limitations with the cleaning process along with existing damage will have been highlighted on the quotation.
Hot Water Extraction
This is the most widely used system used in carpet cleaning today.
The areas to be cleaned will be thoroughly vacuumed to remove dry soiling. Around 80% of soiling in carpets is dry, particulate type soiling. A pre-spray appropriate to the type of carpet being cleaned is then applied by hand sprayer and this is agitated with a specialised machine. Spots and stains will also be addressed at this stage. Following a short dwell time, the extraction process begins. The portable extractor injects fluid into the carpet fibres and then immediately extracts it. This removes the loosened soil and rinses the carpets at the same time. Should you require a carpet protector to be applied to your newly cleaned carpets then this will be applied at the end of the cleaning process. In ideal atmospheric conditions your carpets should be dry in one to three hours.
Dry Compound Cleaning
Dry compound cleaning is used on carpets which are susceptible to damage by excess moisture. The carpet to be cleaned is thoroughly vacuumed and then the dry compound is applied evenly to the carpet by hand or by applicator. A machine with contra-rotating brushes is then used to work the compound into the pile. The cleaning agents loosen the soils and the compound absorbs the released soiling. The compound and absorbed soiling are then simply vacuumed out.
Carpets can generally be used immediately after cleaning and this system also makes for a very good maintenance system.
